FAQ - BROWS
What is semi-permanent makeup?
Semi-permanent makeup is a form of micropigmentation (permanent makeup). Specially formulated pigment is deposited into the skin using a single sterile needle.
What is the difference between semi-permanent makeup and permanent makeup?
Pigments are deposited superficially between the epidermis and upper dermal layer in a much less invasion application.
The results last between 1-3 years with necessary touch ups to maintain color and shape.
The color will gradually lighten and fade, without changing colors, as the skin naturally sheds and exfoliates.
Pigment is deposited deeper into the dermal layer using a more aggressive application.
The results lasts 5-10+ years but oftentimes, results in color change due to the body’s chemistry of the skin.
What is the difference between Ombre Powder Brows and Microblading?
Ombre Powder Brows
Uses a tattoo rotary pen machine that penetrates the skin with a sterile, single prong needle.
The tool uses quick, tapping motions to deposit pigment into the skin, resulting in a powdered look.
Ideal for those with any skin type who want a defined, but soft powdered brow.
Typically lasts 1-3 years with recommended touch-ups every 1-2 years.
Uses a hand tool with a sterile, single-use “microblade” - consists of 12 needles packed in a line to form a blade.
The tool is used to manually draw small hair-like strokes while depositing pigment into the skin.
Ideal for those with normal skin only who want a natural, fluffy hair-like look.
Typically lasts 6 - 18 months with recommended yearly touch-ups.
How long does the appointment take and what does it consist of?
The appointments take about 2 - 3 hours. The first half is spent drawing and outlining your ideal brow shape. Once you are pleased with the outcome, we will move into color matching and numbing. I recommend colors that best suit your complexion and the natural color of your eyebrow hairs. Finally, we’ll move onto the tattooing.
is it painful?
I try to minimize any pain and discomfort by numbing you beforehand as well as throughout the tattooing process. Some have described it as “slight discomfort, but very tolerable” while others have experienced no discomfort at all.
What should I expect after the appointment?
You may experience slight redness and swelling the day after the procedure. Just like any tattoo, the area will appear darker for the days following but as your skin heals, it will begin to fade as the skin peels. The healing process can take anywhere from 9-14 days to fully heal, in which you will experience peeling, flaking, itching of the tattooed brow area.
You will be sent home with thorough post-procedure care instructions and an antiseptic ointment to ensure proper healing. After about 2 weeks, you should expect to see natural-looking, powdered brows!
Will i need a touch up?
A touch up is recommended 4-8 weeks after the initial session to further lock in the pigment and to make any minor changes. This will also help to ensure the brows will last longer.
will the color change?
Absolutely not. I always work with high quality pigments and select colors that closely match natural-looking hair color. Overtime, the color will gradually fade lighter which is why touch-ups are recommended every 1-2 years.
How often will I need to get my brows done after?
Clients are recommended to come in annually for a color refresh as brows will gradually fade and shrink over time. This will help to maintain the color, darkness and shape - think of it as getting your hair color refreshed! However, all skin types will have varying retention so it is entirely up to you how often you will need to come in. Please note that the longer the wait, the more work that will need to be done.
FAQ - LASHES
What are eyelash extensions?
Lash extensions are artificial or synthetic eyelashes that used to enhance the curl, fullness and thickness of one’s real eyelashes.
How long do they last?
A set of eyelash extensions last 2-3 weeks before the recommended fill to maintain the original look. Lashes will gradually fall out with the extension as the natural lash growth cycle continues.
Will they damage my real eyelashes?
No, absolutely not. Through proper training and application, the ideal amount and weight of extensions applied to each individual eyelash is determined by the strength in which it can hold. Further lash damage prevention is done so through proper aftercare and hygiene.
Are the eyelash extensions waterproof?
For the first 24 - 48 hours after your appointment, I ask that you refrain from wetting your eyelashes to ensure the glue has fully cured. After this period, your lashes are waterproof and weatherproof! This makes them great for not only every day wear but also for vacations.
How do I care for my eyelash extensions?
Avoid water near your eyes for the first 24-48 hours.
Do not use any oil-based products on your eyes.
Refrain from touching, rubbing or pulling your eyelashes as our fingers naturally contain oils.
Gently brush your lashes daily.
Clean your lashes daily with a gentle foaming cleanser.
Remove all eye makeup to remove any build up along the lash line.
