Lip blush is a semi-permanent tattoo that enhances the natural color of the lips, improves the shape and creates the illusion of a fuller pout. Unlike traditional lip tattoos, lip blush uses the same technique as modern eyebrow powder shading which results in a natural “tint” of the lips.

Anyone who is looking to add a natural tint of color to their lips! Lip blush even goes further by helping those with: Uneven pigment and discoloration of the lips — natural lips can be corrected/neutralized before applying color. Lack of symmetry — lip blush can be tattooed to a specific shape to create better symmetry. Pale lips — feel like your lips look washed out without makeup? Lip blush is the perfect solution! Small pout — lip blush is a great alternative to lip fillers as it creates the illusion of a fuller pout.

Pain is minimal! A topical anesthetic is applied before and during the procedure but due to the nature of lips, some discomfort may still be experienced. Pain level varies based on the individual. Please note, you may be more sensitive before/during a menstrual cycle so an appointment should be booked accordingly.

Typically all semi-permanent cosmetic procedures last 1-3 years depending on your skin type, lifestyle, aftercare, etc. Such factors that may lead to quicker fading are sun exposure, smoking, oily skin and use of exfoliating products in the specific areas.

Lips have a much faster healing process but can take the longest for results to be fully visible. Just like any PMU procedure, the skin will peel and flake off - lips take about 5-7 days. It’s important to be patient and understand that lips take almost 2 full months. After the initial peeling stage, lips will appear light but color resurface and will be visible around 5-6 weeks. Once healed, a second session is required to achieve the desired results. During the 7 day healing process, you must avoid eating the following foods - spicy, acidic, salty and greasy. Such types of food can cause irritation to the lips and may affect retention. Liquids must be consumed through a straw. Lips will need to stay moisturized - this means applying the aftercare ointment 3-4x a day.

If you are prone to cold sores/fever blisters or have ever gotten just one flare up in the past, you will most likely experience cold sores after the lip blush procedure. It’s important to consult with your physician on whether or not you can receive the service. It’s important to take an anti-viral medication such as Valtrex or Acyclovir and/or supplement such as Lysine before, during and after the procedure.

Like any tattoo or procedure involving opening of the skin, there is a risk of contracting infections such as HIV and Hepatitis B. As with any infection, it involves treatment through medication which can affect the baby. There is little to no research regarding the effect of pigments on the body of a pregnant woman and her unborn baby. Chemicals such as iron and titanium dioxides can be harmful towards a baby’s development.
